Rumah Makan Cirebon, A True Love I Found

I've been longing to find a perfect, old, and true vintage dining place/coffee shop in the town when I accidentally found an online article by a friend of mine talking about this particular restaurant.

Knowing that finally I've got the result of my long search *long applause please?*, finally on a fine evening, I went to this -for me- sacred place with Anggi.

It is quite surprising as the restaurant is located in Malioboro, exactly in front of the famous Pasar Beringharjo. I was born and spent like 16 years living here and passing the street like, numerous times, yet I didn't recognize it.

The restaurant, as I read on some reviews on the internet, was built in 1930s on the Dutch colonial era. This was a place for the Dutch to gather and hang out. I was imagining the Dutch ladies (red: noni-noni Belanda) with their beautiful dresses dancing around on the hall. Mesmerizing~

On the other note, I realize that this town, Jogja, is lack of those old bakery and coffee shop. I love the magic of the traditional thing that this city is famous of; but I'm not looking for it. I want the vintage-y, the Dutch-y thing, the thing that it should be a lot here. Not the artificial vintage dining place ones, but the real ones. My boyfriend said that the coffee shop business in Jogja was more likely to be closing down on the 1980s due to the rise of angkringan. Well, that makes sense. People would rather choose to get coffee in that cheaper place rather than in the coffee shop. But anyway, I'm still, longing to find, oh well, at least, an old bakery like Tan de Bakker (the one in the book 'Madre'), or even Tan Ek Tjoan, the real (as boyfriend assumed) bakery that Dee, the writer, was inspired of.

So please anyone knows any other vintage places in Jogja? I will love you to the moon and back ♡

B for Bromo

Celebrating the wrapping up of the final exams and my first semester here, I was pretending to be adventurous (like come on, it is *only* Bromo, not Merapi or even Semeru) with my college friends: Helena, Rischa, and Mala. We took a tiring, 7-hour night train ride to Malang, then bumped to Bromo the next day.

The first thing I realized when I stepped out of the train station was, Malang has really changed. I've been to Malang when I was still on the 1st grade and it was, as long as I remembered, it was only a small, little town on the edge of a mountain. Today, Malang is more likely to be Bandung's sister with its houses, weather, cafes and the hanging out places, and of course the ambience. I'd really love to live here really, as the weather is a favorite. I'd just curl up on the bed all day and feeling okay about it.

The pictures I took wasn't quiet good as it was gloomy all days, but anyway, finally a story and pictures in this post, enjoy! :D

Trying out the famous Bakso Bakar
Yay for Bromo~
Mala was pretending to be a fashion blogger (and obviously she fails so hard)

The thing that kept us warm all night

Rischa and Helena are excited for the sunrise!
..and too bad it was too foggy we couldn't watch the sunrise

I had such a quick trip. We didn't go to Batu or that so-called Jatim Park because the actual plan was that. We actually didn't plan to hang out in Malang but the train schedule made us to stay longer there.  Moreover, we were already tired by the trekking we did to Bromo's crater.
We are such an old lady alrite...

Oh well anyway, I'm still having a month to be free from college stuffs. Anyone cares for joining my other trips? Anyone? *wink*

P.S: some pictures are also from Rischa's and Mala's.

Forever yours x
