Museum Affandi

It's been a curiosity toward these beautiful buildings since I was a kid; I've always passed the museum almost everyday since my elementary school was just around there, admiring it.
I was actually been there a few years ago, but I didn't come in since the ticket price kills it is only 20k rupiahs tho but we are talking about a high school girl's poor wallet so.
Finally in my 21st age, like finally, after postponing it for many times, I finally came to this art gallery with him. No inside the building pictures because we would be charged for that; tho I don't mind paying extra cash, but a group of loud ibu-ibu that happened to be come on the same time with us just fed us up and keep messing around here and there.
I just want my pictures to be off with useless things.

The only art studio that can be shot: it is Didit's artwork, the grandson of Affandi
The view from the Affandi's house, would be great to wake up with this every morning aye
Peeking into Affandi's bedroom
He is an acrophobia
Interested to take a visit? The museum is just great to be instragam-ed and path-ed (duh), and it opens daily from 9-4.
So instead of going to the mall that is located just around the museum, why don't you just hit this place? Let's just support our local artists.

It was all started on 2007 or 2008 if I'm not mistaken. I have known Danang before since we went to the same junior high, but we weren't that close because we were never be in the same class. Later on I knew Acik when I was attending a high school in Jogja for a week before I moved to Saudi Arabia.

2008
I was having 3 months break in Indonesia when I accidentally bumped into Danang in one fine Sunday morning market and threw my ice cream on his t-shirt. He was so excited to see me and so I was because Danang was kinda my me and my girlfriends' A-List Boy back in junior high. Soon after that, we arranged a hanging out time together with Acik and a friend because Danang really wanted to make my holiday great (ha!). Shortly, we three together with Diass and also Andri– eventually became so close. We even once went to Ketep Pass in Magelang by motorcycle.

2009
Another trip back to Indonesia but it was the time for me to move to Australia. I spent almost everyday with these dysfunctional boys; and we became more closer and closer that everyone started to see us as 3 best friends. Seeing gigs and hopping from one cafe to another were our daily activities.

2010
We became separated that these boys have already graduated from high school and Danang moved to Bandung for college. I kinda forgot but I guess I only see Acik this year. I also got a boyfriend that I was kinda neglecting them, sorry :-(

2011
I broke up with my ex. July this particular year, we three with a few friends made my first backpacking trip to Bandung because I wanted to see a guy that I like in that city (and to take Danang back to Bandung of course :p). That was our first time having a quite far trip our furthest trip beside the Magelang one was nearby beaches outside Jogja together that we can actually learn about each others more.

2012
Small trips that Danang made to Jogja a few times this year were actually helping us to gather more. Made a trip to Solo as well. I have also realized that our discussion topics changes eventually from it was only about teenagers sighs and school back then until it was about maturity world and marriage.

2013
Here I'm strolling on our facebook's old pictures. It was only 2 weeks ago that we gathered in a small cafe because of Danang's impulsive trip to Jogja by car, yet I've already missed them a lot. Danang have already graduated and Acik are busy with his thesis, then here I am still struggling with my second year of uni. I've sensed that we will be more separated than ever if Danang has already found a job and Acik has graduated already. It was actually quite sick knowing that it was them who were always waiting for me each year for my holiday in Jogja and saying bye every time I was boarding back; where now it was me who will wait for them in this city.
Funny how we still be friend even though we are mostly separated; and we still can show our craziest side only in front of each others.

I miss you guyyyyyys please Payung Teduh minggu depan kita nonton bareng yuk :-)
Love you x

"I just shoot with whatever camera I have in hand. I don't care too much about perfect exposure or lighting or other technical stuff. I like shitty lenses. I don't mind fucked up results. I get excited when I cfan find $5 camera on thrift stores, sometimes I'm still messing up with my films and all, but I enjoy it." Noran Bakrie, interviewed by Buffalo Radio, NY.

Taking Ride On A Time Machine: Solo

Just another random day trip to Solo (Central Java) by train with a friend
Only a map (I mean GPS) and decent shoes to walk for miles, we are ready to dig the vintage charms of the town.

First stop: Kusuma Sari Restaurant & Ice Cream
Cola milk
I've actually been here before to try the splendid Sup Matahari. Now, it is the unique Stik Lidah's turn :9

Next stop: Soto Triwindu

The decoration of the stall is an old traditional javanese typical, but what makes it cute is the table that looks like a school desk :3

Next, the actual purpose of the trip: the legend studio recording, Lokananta

If you want to know more about Lokananta's history, just click here (in Indonesian)

The architecture of the building reminds me a bit of my middle school somehow
The old vinyls collection produced by Lokananta itself. Too bad it isn't for sale.

The studio recording...
The super huge recording studio with  a set of gamelan... I guess it is quite spooky
The attendance machine for the workers, surprisingly it is still well-working including the clock and the date

Last stop: Es Krim Tentrem

Tutti frutty ice cream
Mine, robin rose (kopyor & strawberry ice cream)

Compared with other old ice cream shop around Indonesia (Zangrandi in Surabaya, Tiptop in Yogyakarta, Toko Oen in Malang & Semarang --didn't know about Ragusa in Jakarta, never been there), this cafe peculiarly sells the cheapest ice cream. The average price of them is only IDR 10.000 which means it is only $1.

I guess that is all. Taking train back to Jogja with loud students that have just come back from their student community service, that was quite tiring.

Till later,

C.
